Do Mattress Encasements Work Against Bed Bugs

Do mattress Encasements Work Against Bed Bugs?If you have been unlucky enough to get infested by bed bugs and looked around trying to find a solution that didn’t involve toxic chemicals you have probably run across mattress encasements.

While these mattress enclosures aren’t real expensive they also aren’t cheap so you’re on a budget you are probably wondering if they are worth the effort.

Let me assure you, they are.  Of all the things that I have used when I’ve had an bedbug infestation, this is one of the best tactics that you can use.

Now, it won’t work by itself and it can be a bit of a hassle but a mattress encasement is both effective and easy to use when compared to the results.

Why Mattress Enclosures Work

Bed bugs are very small and usually hide during the days.  They like to hide close to the places where their victims sleep.  They will crawl out during the hours just before dawn when we are in our deepest sleep and feed.

This makes your bed a perfect place for them to hide between feedings.  Your mattress gives them a good place to hide.  If you have an infestation and look for the bugs you are probably going to find them first the seams of your mattress and on the frame.

By enclosing the mattress with a bed bug proof enclosure you are trapping the bugs inside where they can’t get to you.  Using this along with enclosures for pillows and treating your bed frame is a quick way to get instant relief from an infestation.

Now you can’t just put on a mattress encasement and hope for the best because any of the bugs that aren’t trapped will just continue to feed on you. But it is an extremely important step that I have used several times to trap a large infestation and make it easier to kill the rest.

Using these encasements is an important step to get rid of bedbugs that you should make sure and use.  You can sometimes find these encasements in some local stores but make sure that you purchase only ones that say they are marked “bed bug proof”.

If you want to make sure that you find the proper size and don’t have to face the embarrassment of checking out with a bed bug item then you can also purchase them online.
