If you are moving into a new apartment or condo the last thing that you want is to wake up in the morning and find a bed bug crawling on you, sucking your blood, and infesting your furniture. So what can you do? Learn how to avoid bed bugs when moving!
1. Always check any place that you are moving into for signs of bed bugs. If you don’t know what to look for ask a friend or pay a little and ask an exterminator. Finding them doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t move into that apartment or condo, it just means that you need to take extra precautions.
2. Ask the leasing agent if there are any bedbugs in the building. Again, this should not affect your decision about whether or not to move into a new building. But it will give you a sense of what could happen if there is a problem. You could also ask directly whether there are bedbugs in the building and if there were what would the management company be willing to do?
3. Any time that you move into a large building make sure to take precautions. Use bed bug mattress covers, pillow covers, treat the new home before you move in, and retreat at the first sign of them after you have moved.
4. Make sure to Google the building. A lot of times if you search on-line through google using the name of the new building you may find information that could influence your decision.
In ways moving to a new building could help you get away from bed bugs. Just make sure that you take steps to check out the new place, and avoid bringing them with you.
